This gives us the opportunity to meet in person, talk about your pregnancy and expectations, ask questions, get to know one another and see if we’re a good match. This usually lasts between thirty minutes to an hour
First Prenatal Visit
During our first visit we’ll discuss subjects such as birth plans, preferences and special wishes. This is when we’ll go over the different practices and procedures offered at the location you’ll be laboring and figuring out what works best for you. You will also have access to my library of materials.
Second Prenatal Visit
During this visit we’ll discuss the birth process and how you can reduce pain, anxiety and fear. We’ll practice different laboring positions as well as discuss coping mechanisms and comfort measures. I will also be supplying you with information put together with your specific birth in mind.
Should you desire, within the last 4 weeks of your pregnancy, I can accompany you to one of your OB/Midwife appointments (including ultrasounds)
24/7 On-Call Support
Text and Facebook support will begin a soon as the contract has been signed.
Phone support beginning the 2 weeks before your due date
Once you’ve requested my presence, I will be there throughout your labor and birth to provide you with the continuous emotional and physical support that we discussed during our initial visits. I will stay with you for 1-2 hours after your sweet baby has been born to help establish breastfeeding (should you need it) and to help you get settled
Depending on your preference, we’ll meet within a few days to a week of your coming home to talk about your birth experience, assist with breastfeeding, answer any questions you might have regarding your newborn’s care and to see how you’re settling in. Follow up postpartum dates will be arranged during this visit
I happily attend births at Niagara Health System – St. Catharines Site, West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, McMaster Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton as well as Home Birth
